Nigerian Entertainment News: Yoruba Film Legend Lalude Voices Disappointment Over Alleged Abandonment After Supporting Tinubu and Sanwo-Olu
Renowned Yoruba film icon, Fatai Adekunle Adetayo, widely known as Lalude, has openly voiced his displeasure over what he describes as abandonment after actively supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu during the 2023 general elections
In a candid conversation on the Behind the Fame podcast, Lalude revealed that he and other Nollywood veterans were promised financial incentives for their participation in the political campaign, but those commitments were never fulfilled.
“We weren’t given a single kobo after everything,” he stated, recalling the weeks of intense campaigning.
The actor specifically pointed fingers at National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) leader, MC Oluomo, accusing him of reneging on a personal promise. Lalude disclosed that he and legendary comedian Ganiu ‘Alapini’ Nofiu were each assured a sum of ₦1.5 million—a pledge that allegedly remains unfulfilled.
According to Lalude, the campaign work lasted for about seven weeks, during which he and other entertainers often had to walk long distances under the sun while others rode in vehicles. He added that they initially received ₦10,000 daily for meals, but those payments suddenly stopped without explanation.
“MC Oluomo asked us to state our price. We did. But we got nothing at the end. We finished the assignment and received zero. Is that fair?” he lamented.
Expressing deep frustration, Lalude boldly declared that those who made empty promises would not succeed, warning that the 2027 election season would not follow the same script.
His sentiments echo the voices of other actors like Aminatu Papapa and Alapini, who have also spoken out about feeling used and disregarded after their involvement.
This incident sheds light on the growing divide between entertainers and political figures—a topic now trending across Nigerian Entertainment News platforms.
