Nigerian Entertainment News: VeryDarkMan Faces Backlash Over Controversial Comments on Benue State
Popular social media figure and outspoken activist, VeryDarkMan (VDM), has ignited online controversy following his harsh critique of Benue State’s development status
In a trending clip that surfaced online after his recent journey to the region, the digital personality described Benue as the most neglected and outdated location he’s ever encountered, likening its condition to Nigeria in the pre-independence era of the 1940s.
VDM made the claims while recounting his experience in Yelwata, a community in the state recently affected by a violent incident. He stated that he had visited the area to launch a borehole project for residents, but the effort was suspended due to prevailing security concerns.
“Benue is like a time capsule stuck in 1940. It’s the least developed place I’ve ever seen,” he said in the footage.
He also criticized the region’s poor infrastructure and rampant insecurity, particularly citing the terrible road network, which he claims deters investors and stalls progress.
“I’m currently working on a borehole in Yelwata, but the locals can’t proceed because of fear for their lives,” he explained.
His remarks have triggered diverse reactions across social media, with some agreeing with his observations, while others slammed his tone and manner of delivery.
