Nigerian Entertainment News: Shatta Wale Released on GH¢10 Million Bail Following Lamborghini Seizure
In trending Nigerian Entertainment News, Ghanaian music icon Shatta Wale has been granted bail set at GH¢10 million, backed by two guarantors, by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
The artist was summoned on Wednesday in connection with a Lamborghini Urus, confiscated from his residence in June 2024.
Authorities believe the luxury vehicle may be tied to a $4 million financial fraud involving Nana Kwabena Amuah, who is currently serving time in the United States.
During his interrogation, Shatta Wale revealed that he acquired the vehicle via WhatsApp from a person known only as “Zak.” However, he was unable to provide purchase documentation or proof of ownership.
An official statement from EOCO explained: “Charles Nii Armah Mensah has thus far failed to confirm the identity of the individual from whom he obtained the Lamborghini Urus, aside from stating it was bought ‘on the street’ from someone possibly named ‘ZAK’—whose details and contact information are no longer available.”
EOCO added that the singer will remain under custody until the guarantors can present assets that meet verification standards. Meanwhile, investigations remain ongoing, with both Shatta Wale and a former officer of the National Signals Bureau named as persons of interest.
Authorities in the U.S. are pursuing the repatriation of the vehicle as part of efforts to recover $4.7 million in restitution linked to Amuah’s case.
