Rita Daniels, the mother of popular actress Regina Daniels, has returned to social media after widespread reports claimed she was defeated in the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) presidential election
On Tuesday, December 9, Rita uploaded an emotional video to her official Instagram page, capturing her participating in humanitarian outreach.
In the footage, she was spotted distributing what appeared to be food supplies to children from the back of a vehicle. She also offered heartfelt appreciation to God, writing:
“Thank you, God, for all you have done. May your name alone be praised. Hallelujah!”
According to circulating reports, Rita did not emerge victorious in the AGN presidential contest, which took place on Saturday, December 6, during the Guild’s annual general assembly in Benin, Edo State.
The elected president, AGN National Secretary Abubakar Yakubu, received 116 votes, while Rita garnered 113 votes, with three votes rendered invalid.
Yakubu’s win marks a significant milestone, as he is now the first actor from Northern Nigeria to head the Guild since its formation in the 1990s.
Rita’s alleged defeat comes shortly after remarks from former AGN president Emeka Rollas, who hinted that Regina Daniels needed her mother’s presence and advised Rita to prioritize her daughter’s welfare rather than pursuing the election.
