Nigerian Entertainment News: Olamide Responds After Yemi My Lover Alleges Unpaid Tribute for Name Usage in Song
Nollywood actor Yemi My Lover has publicly addressed rapper Olamide, accusing him of neglecting to offer any form of appreciation or payment after referencing his name in the 2013 popular single “Yemi My Lover.”
During a recent conversation, Yemi disclosed that he obtained Olamide’s contact through Fuji star Pasuma, and although the rapper initially assured him of a settlement, he allegedly ignored Yemi’s attempts to follow up for several months.
He stated: “When Olamide mentioned my name in his track Yemi My Lover, I felt honored, but he didn’t acknowledge me financially. I reached out through the number Pasuma gave me and tried calling him for over half a year, but he never answered. Eventually, I gave up.”
In light of these claims making waves across Nigerian Entertainment News platforms, Olamide has subtly addressed the situation.
The rapper, who recently launched his 11th studio album titled Olamide, appeared to shrug off the controversy. He posted visuals from his exclusive album listening party on Instagram, showing joyful scenes alongside his wife Adebukunmi and other attendees.
As discussions continue within the Nigerian Entertainment News scene, fans remain divided over the issue of artistic credit and mutual respect in the industry.
