Nigerian Entertainment News: Man Urges EFCC to Detain Verydarkman for One Week
As online campaigns demanding the release of outspoken social media personality Verydarkman (VDM) from EFCC detention continue to gather momentum, a dissenting opinion has surfaced
A Nigerian man named Smanuel Jemitalo has sparked controversy with a trending video in which he appeals to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to hold VDM in custody for no less than seven days.
According to Jemitalo, the extended stay would serve as a necessary disciplinary action for the internet influencer.
He condemned VDM’s behavior on social media, claiming it negatively influences Nigerian youth. Jemitalo accused the TikTok figure of fostering a culture of insolence towards elders and playing a role in normalizing questionable conduct.
In addition, Jemitalo alleged that VDM practices what he described as “emotional activism,” using his platform to intimidate others online. He referenced VDM’s alleged treatment of the late singer Mohbad’s wife and child as a key instance of such conduct.
