David “Davido” Adeleke, a Nigerian music artist, has initiated legal proceedings against Kenya’s Mediamax’s K24 TV over a report alleging his detention in Uganda

The head of DMW, through his legal representatives, has given K24 TV a 48-hour ultimatum, demanding a formal apology, acknowledgment of defamation, and adequate compensation for legal expenses.

In a pre-litigation letter, Davido’s legal team served K24 TV with a Fool’s Day story titled

“Davido detained at JKIA after Sh18 million cocaine haul found in his private jet.”

The singer’s attorneys emphasized,

“The statements found in your article are blatantly false and published with the express intent of disparaging our client”.

“Your statements are false and affect our client’s professional reputation by falsely stating that Davido was arrested for drug-related offenses”.

The legal team urged Mediamax’s K24 TV to cease publishing defamatory allegations, issue a formal apology, admit fault for defaming the artist, and reimburse him for legal expenses.

The notice was issued shortly after Davido responded to the cocaine allegations on his social media platforms, asserting his compliance with the law.
