Tech entrepreneur and social analyst Charles Awuzie has sparked heated discussions online after claiming that well-known activist Deji Adeyanju may have strategically engaged online influencer VeryDarkMan (VDM) to advance his political ambitions

In a recent Facebook update, Awuzie portrayed Adeyanju not just as a civic crusader, but as a shrewd political figure adept at shaping public narratives.

He suggested that while many believe VDM operates autonomously, their connection might be more calculated than it appears.

“To seal this smart move, he hired VDM – oh no, you thought VDM hired him? Well, one of them hired the other. I don’t know who hired who but that relationship has benefited Deji more than it has benefited VDM,”

Awuzie wrote.

He further implied that this alliance has helped Adeyanju reinforce his public image as a principled activist, effectively pushing past controversies from his university years.

Awuzie also alluded to Deji’s political leanings, linking him with prominent figures like Festus Keyamo and Atiku Abubakar. He suggested that Adeyanju’s activism might be tightly woven into his political aspirations.

The statement has ignited widespread reactions across social media, with fans of both Deji and VDM defending their integrity. However, critics argue that the situation highlights growing concerns over the commercialization of activism in the Nigerian sociopolitical space.
