American Entertainment News: Rapper Tory Lanez Relocated to New Facility After Brutal Prison Attack

In a major update from the world of American Entertainment News, Canadian hip-hop star Tory Lanez has been transferred to a different correctional center following a life-threatening assault behind bars

Currently serving a decade-long prison term for the 2020 shooting incident involving fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion, Lanez has been moved to California Men’s Colony (CMC), located near San Luis Obispo, due to concerns over his security.

According to information obtained by TMZ on Thursday, May 22, Lanez was shifted from the California Correctional Institution (CCI) in Tehachapi after surviving a harrowing attack in which he was reportedly stabbed 14 times, leading to the collapse of both lungs. The alarming nature of the attack prompted authorities to prioritize his safety and initiate the relocation.

Crystal Morgan, legal representative for Lanez, told TMZ Hip Hop that the artist is recuperating, despite the seriousness of his condition. “He’s holding up well, all things considered,” she stated. Nonetheless, she noted that Lanez was disheartened by the transfer, as he had begun forming bonds and building a support network at the previous facility.

Photos previously shared from inside the Tehachapi prison depicted Lanez looking relatively settled among fellow inmates. However, insiders revealed that prison officials ultimately determined that his continued presence there posed an unacceptable risk.

Meanwhile, Lanez’s defense team remains active in seeking clemency from California Governor Gavin Newsom. They are leveraging newly surfaced and allegedly mishandled evidence as the foundation for a pardon, aiming to either overturn the conviction or secure a reduced sentence.

Lanez, born Daystar Peterson, was found guilty in December 2022 of charges linked to the July 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion and began serving his sentence in 2023.
